You
cannot pray the Lord's Prayer and even once say "I".
You cannot pray the Lord's Prayer and even once say
"My".
Nor can you pray the Lord's Prayer and not pray for
one another.
And when you ask for daily bread, you must include
your brother.
For others are included ... in each and every plea,
From the beginning to the end of it, it doesn't once
say "Me."

How would
you describe your prayer life over the last month?
A) Strike Out: I'm just not connecting with God
these days
B) Base-on-Balls: I'm barely getting by...going
through the motions
C) Single: I'm praying regularly, though maybe it's a
bit dry & formal
D) Double off the wall: My prayer life is strong &
important to my life
E) HOME RUN: I'm experiencing great times of
fellowship with God
Read Matthew
6:9-15
In verse 9, Jesus tells us to approach God and Father.
Read Matthew 7:9-11. How does a passage like this help
us better understand what Jesus is saying about our
relationship with God?
What do you
think of when you hear the words, "Hallowed be your name?"
How should the truth of these wr4ods affect our prayer
lives?
Why is it
difficult sometimes at the personal level to pray,
"They will be done on earth as it is in heaven"?
Jesus teaches
is to pray "Give us this day our daily bread." How do
you reconcile this prayer of reliance with the Biblical
principle of being good stewards of what God gives us?
Or to put it bluntly, can we sincerely pray "Give us this
day our daily bread" and still save money for retirement?
What does Jesus
say is the connection between our willingness to forgive
other and our readiness to receive God's forgiveness for our
own sins? How does unforgiveness harm the church body?
The phrase
"Lead us not into temptation" is a figure of speech called
litotes (LIE-tuh-teez) which expresses the positive prayer,
"Lead us into righteousness." How does this prayer
help us to resist temptation?
Which part of
the Lord's Prayer do you personally find the most difficult
to pray? What can you do to grow in that area of your
prayer life?
Closing
Prayer: Close your time in prayer following the
pattern Jesus sets forth in the Lord's Prayer:
-
Adoration &
Praise ("our Father...hallowed be...")
-
Submission
("Thy will be done")
-
Supplication ("daily bread")
-
Confession/Forgiveness ("Forgive us...")
-
Protection
from Sin ("...deliver us from the evil one")
The most
important thing(s) I’ve learned from this study about my
place in Christ’s Church is …
Group Prayer
